What it does

AgentCairn is a local-first agent memory system that uses a plain Markdown Obsidian vault as the central source of truth for storing and retrieving agent information. It builds a rebuildable DuckDB index that enables hybrid search across BM25 (keyword), vector (semantic), and graph-based recall methods. The tool captures information without data loss while automatically redacting sensitive content.

How to set up

Installation is straightforward using uvx: simply run uvx agentcairn from your terminal. The tool works as an MCP server and integrates with Claude, Codex, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible hosts. Point it to your Obsidian vault location, and it will begin indexing your Markdown files automatically.
