What it does

NoteDiscovery is a self-hosted plaintext markdown knowledge base system that integrates as an MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. It allows Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other MCP-compatible clients to interact directly with your notes through natural language, enabling searching, reading, creating, editing, tagging, and applying templates to notes—all from the same vault that powers the web UI.

How to set up

Clone the repository from GitHub, install dependencies using pure Python standard library (no external dependencies required), and configure it as an MCP server in your Claude Desktop or Cursor settings. The tool can run locally on macOS, Windows, Linux, and as a self-hosted Docker container for Doc deployments.
